Lotto Mirage 100 SPD Tennis Shoes

For players that are looking to enhance their aggressive movements and maximize their speed, the Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs are a great choice. They are impressive with their supportive and light feel, and the new multi-layer Kurim upper that Lotto included in them enhances their stability without making them feel heavy.

Further, Lotto’s patented Syn-Pulse technology offers a wonderfully responsive underfoot feeling. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the durability of these shoes as well, especially considering just how lightweight and airy they feel. Lotto also included two Ortholite insoles to allow you to choose your own cushioning level, making the Mirage 100 SPDs a great versatile option.

All in all, these kicks from Lotto are a fantastic lightweight option that aggressive movers will love wearing while grinding out their most intense matches.

Who is This Product For?

Even if you are not an aggressive mover on the court, or you don’t have that much experience with tennis, the Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs could be a great option for you, especially given how affordable they are. These shoes are comparable to some of the most expensive from more popular brands like Nike and Adidas but don’t come with an inflated price tag.

Of course, as we have already mentioned, these shoes are likely best suited to more advanced tennis players, who know how to take full advantage of the court and make aggressive movements and sudden directional changes. They accommodate a very nimble style of playing that not many beginner players will have mastered yet.

Overall, if you are an intermediate player looking for an upgrade, the Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs could be a great option for you. If you are just starting out, you could also pick up these shoes, though you might be better off with a more beginner-friendly pair.

The Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs are quite a minimal pair of shoes, but they still have more than enough cushioning to feel comfortable while on the court. There are no seams on the insides of the uppers that your feet might be able to rub against or snag on, and they are not too pillowy. The arch height is great for anyone that has a high instep, and the shoes are wonderfully breathable, despite how supporting their uppers are.

Its midsole cushioning is quite minimal in the forefoot and gets plusher beneath the heels. The Mirage 100 SPDs’ ventilation is good, though it would have been nice if there was a more breathable mesh on the uppers. The arch support works well for many different foot types, but the shoes are quite short in length, so if you are someone that has longer feet, you should consider sizing up one. As for the width, the shoes are nice and snug and are great for people with narrow feet.

As for traction, the Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs have a grippy feel to their outsoles, and the rubber compound, in combination with the modified herringbone tread pattern, works quite nicely on a number of different court types. Initially, you are going to feel like the traction on these tennis shoes is quite sticky, but once you have played with them for a while and the coating has worn off, the acceleration and traction will be fantastic.

On hard courts, the Mirage 100 SPDs have some great grip, and you will be able to feel the outsole grabbing at the court when you need to stop. Directional changes have a seamless feeling when these shoes are on the feet, and you should be able to make explosive push-offs without suffering from any slippage.

Even on those rare moments where the outsoles on these shoes do not provide enough give, and you try to slide but end up going nowhere, the uppers will be more than stable to ensure that you do not fall over and that you do not end up injuring your ankles or feet.

When it comes to weight, we’ve mentioned it a dozen times already, but the Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs are fantastically lightweight, providing a speedy ride that is difficult to match these days. You’ll be able to move fast to every ball without sacrificing any of your stability. What’s more, no matter the insole you choose to slip inside of these shoes, they will never feel too heavy for you to make sharp changes in direction.

The Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs accommodate super speedy and nimble play, all while maintaining their high level of lateral stability that enables you to make aggressive directional changes. What’s more, they are very flexible right out of the box and barely have a break-in period. The slim fit of the shoes makes them feel nice and streamlined, which further adds to the overall lightweight feel. Think of the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 4s, but with a more rigid feel.

Wide feet will also be able to fit into the Mirage 100 SPDs, though you might want to consider getting a larger size to avoid having your feet feel cramped. The toe box narrows quite sharply, so if your feet are on the broader side of life, you’re going to feel some rubbing on your pinky toes. The underfoot cushioning does make up for this somewhat, especially when you use the insoles with the additional padding.

Despite the lightweight nature of the Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs, they are surprisingly durable, especially in the soles. They are certainly not tanks like the Asics Gel Resolution 8s, but that is to be expected given their weight. After a few weeks of rough playing, you might notice some slight balding beneath the balls of your feet, which is, again, par for the course with most tennis shoes, though it would have been nice if Lotto could have included some kind of durability guarantee.

The main draw of these shoes is that they are wonderfully lightweight and breathable, so if you are expecting them to be super durable as well, you might want to consider purchasing a different pair of tennis shoes. Still, they definitely stand up to abuse better than the Nike Vapor X shoes, which are actually heavier than the Mirage 100 SPDs.

As for stability, the Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs are pretty supportive and stable, considering how light they are. Your feet should feel locked and ready to go when you slip into these shoes, thanks to their snug and secure fit. The low to the ground ride will keep you stable when you make sudden, sharp changes in direction. While the shoes are not super rigid, the midfoot stabilizer does a great job of keeping your feet secure.

The uppers are even supportive enough for you to avoid tying the shoelaces altogether, and if you wanted, you could simply tuck the laces inside the shoe and go play. The cushioning underfoot is much better than average tennis shoes on the market, and the low to the ground feeling we mentioned earlier adds to this stable and supportive feeling. It would have been nice if the uppers were just a little stiffer to support quick lateral stops, but you’ll still be able to make these movements no problem.

As for their appearance, you won’t have to worry about looking unfashionable when walking through the grocery store in your Lotto Mirage 100 SPDs. Even though they are available in vivid blue and navy colors, they are still simple and subtle enough to look good both on and off the tennis court. The colors are quite uniform and subtle while still being interesting enough to catch eyes and hold them.

Pros

  • Very supportive
  • Good upper stability
  • Provides great traction on the court
  • Very lightweight
  • Accommodates fast & nimble gameplay

  • Players with wide feet will have to size up
